Baby Shower, It's a Boy!

My dearest friend Nagisa's Baby Shower! Mom to be Nagisa is so beautiful and shining! I'm so honored to host her baby shower. All hand & home made, decoration & diaper cake, full course brunch & baby elephant cake! Congratulations Nagisa!

大好きな大切なお友達の渚ちゃんのベイビーシャワー！あと１ヶ月でママになる渚ちゃんは、これ以上ないほどキラキラと輝いて美しく、幸せに満ちた笑顔に、たくさんの幸せのシャワーをいただきました。しかも光栄にもホストさせていただいて、あまりの喜びに胸が一杯で、私のベストを尽くして、すべて手作りで、デコレーション、ひつじちゃんダイパーケーキ、ブランチのフルコース、そしてベイビーぞうさんのケーキを作りました！！！

I've met her through my radio show as she was my director. It's been 15 years since then, and we've shared so many precious memories, but never ever imagined the day like this was waiting!  Just so happy...

私のラジオ番組でディレクターをしてくれたことをきっかけにNYで出会い、15年ものお付き合いの中で、たくさんの忘れられない想い出をシェアしてきた渚ちゃん。こんな幸せが待っていたなんて！JPガールズ達と一緒にこうしてお祝いできるなんて、本当に嬉しくて、ただただ、じーん。

こんな幸せのシャワーを、渚ちゃん＆おなかのベイビーボーイちゃん、本当にありがとう！そして、何度でも、心からおめでとう！生まれるのが待ちきれない！！名前何になるかな、、、？ドキドキ！

My first hand made Berry Tart!

My first hand made Berry Tart! Crust and custard cream making made me so happy. :)

初めてフルーツタルトを作ってみました！
タルト生地も、カスタードクリームも、全部手作り＆初挑戦だったのでドキドキでしたが、なんとかできました。:)

My mom used to make custard when I was kid, it was super yummy and can't forget that scenes that my mom was stirring slowly the custard with the wood spoon in the small pot.

カスタードは、子供の頃、母が作ってくれたカスタードが忘れられないくらいおいしくて、あったかいカスタードを小さなお鍋の中で木べらでゆっくり混ぜている母の姿が忘れられません。

I was watching that as if she's making something "magic". :)

その横で、まるで”魔法”が出来上がっているかのように、ずっと離れず見ていた私。笑

And of course I couldn't wait, I needed to do the "tasting" time to time while cooking. lol

そして時々待ちきれなくて、”味見”させてもらって。笑。
”また作って！”と何度もせがんでいたのを覚えています。

Heart shaped pineapple upside down cake by AK

I made Heart shaped Pineapple pside down cake for Danny's Birthday! This is Danny's most favorite cake and it was his request. Cake baking is always challenge but I tried my best! :)

パイナップル•アップサイドダウン•ケーキをダニーのお誕生日に作りました！
実はこのケーキがダニーは一番好きで、ダニーからリクエストがあったのでした。
またもや出来上がるまで、ハラハラドキドキ、大奮闘。笑
でもベストを尽くしてみました！

Pineapple upside down cake is very popular cake in America, but I've never had it before I met Danny. First time I've ever had this cake was when I visited Danny's mom. His mom baked cake for his coming home - how sweet - and as soon as Danny saw the cake, he was so happy!  I ate it and "Yummy!".

パイナップル•アップサイドダウン•ケーキは、アメリカではとても人気の定番ケーキですが、私はダニーに出会うまでまったく知らず、初めて食べたのはダニーのお母様を訪ねた時。お家に到着したらダイニングテーブルの上に焼きたてのケーキが用意してあり（なんてスイート！）、ケーキを見た瞬間ダニーは大喜び！私も食べてびっくり。”おいしい！”

Danny told me that when he was little he asked his mom for this cake for his birthday every year. Danny's mom gave me the recipe, and I started bake too.

ダニーは子供の頃、お誕生日がくるとこのケーキをねだっていたということ。
そのレシピをダニーのお母様が教えてくださり、私もチャレンジ。

It is quite simple. You melt butter at the bottom of the pan, then put brown sugar, pineapple, maraschino cherries, then yellow sponge cake batter, then bake in the 350 F oven around 30 min until toothpick doesn't get any wet batter at the center, that's it.

作り方はとってもシンプル。まずバターをケーキ型で溶かして、ブラウンシュガーを散りばめ、その上にパイナップル、真ん中に缶詰のチェリー、その上に普通のスポンジケーキの生地を流し入れ（市販のスポンジケーキミックスでもOK）、350 F (175度）で、爪楊枝をケーキの真ん中にさしてなにもつかなくなるまで、30分くらい焼くだけ。

As name Pineapple upside down cake goes, literally you put pineapple first on the bottom of the cake pan, bake, then turn upside down, there you are! Pineapple upside down cake!

パイナップル、アップサイド、ダウン、という名前の通り、パイナップルをケーキ型の下に敷き詰めて焼き上がって返すと、パイナップル•アップサイドダウン•ケーキの出来上がり！

It's Danny's special birthday, so I made it heart shaped. :)
Cake baking promise the happiness, specially when it's in the oven, sweet smell fill up entire house.

今回はダニーの特別なお誕生日なのでハートにしてみました。:)
なんと言ってもケーキを焼いている時は、甘い香りがお家いっぱいになって、最高に幸せ。

AK's hand made Birthday Cake! with Bunny!

AK Akemi Kakihara's hand made Bunny Strawberry short cake.

My 2nd time in my life hand made Birthday cake for my princess Renka's "big 5" Birthday! Her request was "Bunny"… I've tried my best!!

私の大切なお友達の５歳になるプリンセスRenkaちゃんのバースデーケーキを作りました！
私の人生で２つ目の手作りケーキ。

Since the day that Renka requested me to make her 5th Bunny Birthday cake, sleepless nights had stated... oh boy....what can I do.... bunny?

れんかちゃんから、”AKにうさぎちゃんのお誕生日ケーキ作ってほしい”と言われた日から、またしても緊張で眠れない日々が、、、。

うさぎちゃん、、、、どうしよう。汗

I came up with the idea of making bunny using marshmallow. That's easy! All I have to do is just write eyes, nose and ears!    ..... Wrong! 

What's this? ....something completely different than I expected...

It's wood log.... oh no!

そこで、大きなマシュマロを使ってそこに顔と耳を作ってうさぎちゃんにしよう！と思いついたまではよかったのですが、当日作り始めて、え？うそ。がーん、想像と全く違う！！えええーー。

俵です。汗

The plan changed. It's getting closer to the Birthday party, started getting panic, but no option to give up since this is very important her "big 5" Birthday!

So I came up with the new idea, "how about melt marshmallow, and make bunny?
Challenge.... it's very sticky when marshmallow is melted, so I added powder sugar and tried my best to make bunny! This is the best I could do for this time, hope she loves this bunny!

作戦変更。すでにお誕生会の時間が迫り、またしてもパニック。
”うさぎちゃん”がメインリクエストだっただけに、はずすわけにはいかない！！

そこで、なんとかひねりだしたのが、”マシュマロを少しだけあたためて、溶かして、粉砂糖を混ぜてうさぎちゃんを作る”でした。
挑戦！手にべとつくマシュマロと大格闘の末なんとか、うさぎちゃんが！
これが限界。ベストを尽くしたので、なんとかうさぎちゃんと思ってほしい！

By the way, this is a strawberry short cake, 4 layers! Lots of strawberries inside. :)
Actually, this is my first time making strawberry short cake all by myself, so it was quite challenge but the cake was so soft, moist and fluffy! Not to sweet. Yummy!
But, spreading the whipped cream was real challenge, because you can't spread again and again, only once specially the top! I think making cake is basically very intense. lol

Finally, here is the bunny strawberry short cake!

ちなみにケーキはイチゴのショートケーキ。:)
中は４層！いちごをたくさん重ねました。
実は、いちごのショートケーキも自分ひとりですべて作るのは人生初なので、どきどきでしたが、前回の１つ目のケーキ大失敗の日から、クラスも受けて頑張りました。笑 ケーキも今回はふわふわになった！
でも、ナッペという、生クリームを塗るのが、大変で、やり直しができないので心臓がばくばく、もうケーキ作りは緊張の嵐です。

やっとなんとか完成！

My heart was jumping bringing my cake, but as soon as Renka saw the cake, she said "So cute!", I hugged her so tight!! She said "Yummy!". That made my day, I was just so happy. Thank you Renka!

ドキドキしながら、ケーキを持参。れんかちゃんがケーキを見た瞬間、”かわいい！”って言ってくれて、嬉しくてハグーー！！涙
”おいしい！”って言ってくれて、もうこれ以上ないくらい嬉しかった。作ってよかった。

Danny celebrated too. Renka loves Danny, so we were all happy!

ダニーも一緒にお祝い。れんかちゃんはダニーが大好きなので、とってもハッピー！
